I hunted the early west side hunt last year (2008) and took this buck on the 6th morning of the hunt after a couple inches of snow on Tuesday night. I was hunting with some friends up to Tuesday morning and we were seeing a fair amount of bucks every day.

Wednesday I started hunting in the snow, (18 degrees), at first light and started tracking two sets of tracks that I ran into right away. It took me about two hours to catch up to them as I was about half way up the side of the hill, two bedded bucks jumped up just below the ridge. One ran up and over, and the other stopped broadside just below the ridge. I took him with one shot with my 300 sako. I was lucky enough to be able to drive around and load him in my truck by myself.

I have him at Gametrail Taxidermy where he scored 198 5/8 gross, and 191 5/8 official Boone and Crocket. I have had 5 kiabab tags in 22 years, and can hardly wait for my next one!

"Thanks for the awesome story and pictures Cameron. That'll be a tough buck to top - congratulations."
