I understan that there is a 10% cap for non-residents. Is the 10% cap broken down per unit or total deer tags, and is it a mandatory 10% or "up to" 10%? We are planning for next year and an out of state relative will be applying with us. How does this effect the other three applicants that are residents on the same application?

The cap is per unit, with up to 10% going to non residents.

Michael, this post talks about the draw: http://www.keytothekaibab.com/kaibab_forum/viewtopic.php?t=120
Also, (I'm no expert on this but have had it explained to me this way - confirm with the G&F) if you put multiple names on one app you may actually reduce your odds/bonus pts overall IF you and your partners each have a different amount of bonus points. Ex. Say you have 6 bp's and your buddy has 2. If you put in the same app the G&F will subtract his 2 from your 6 and divide the difference by 2 meaning your app will only be applying with 2 bp's for the draw. Again, would be good to confirm this... _________________ Ryan Ghan

It was my understanding that they take the average of bonus points on the application. What I wasn't sure about was if the 3 resident applicants fall into the same non-res status since my uncle is a non-res on the same app.?

Michael,
Looks like you're right. Here's the info from AZGFD group bonus points:
What are Group Bonus Points?
Group Bonus Points occur in the Big Game Draw when 2 to 4 applicants apply on 1 hunt application. Group bonus points are calculated by adding the species bonus points, loyalty bonus point, and hunter education bonus point for each applicant on an application and dividing that total by the number of applicants. The Department shall use the average number of bonus points accumulated by the individuals in the group, rounded to the nearest whole number. If the average has decimal digits equal to or greater than .5, the total will be rounded to the next higher number otherwise it is rounded down.
http://www.azgfd.gov/eservices/BonusPointProcess.shtml
As for your non-res with res applicants on one app G&F will have to answer that one. Good luck. _________________ Ryan Ghan
